On the singular values of Toeplitz matrices (Q583583)

A classical theorem of Szegö describes the asymptotic distribution of the eigenvalues of selfadjoint Toeplitz matrices \(T_ n(f)\). In case \(T_ n(f)\) is not necessarily selfadjoint, an analogous result is also known to hold. In this paper the author presents a refinement of the latter result and determines the limiting set of the singular values. Both results need appropriate hypothesis on the function f.
