    An element of a \(p\)-group is called extreme, if this element and the non-central commutators involving it have the same centralizer. Using this concept, we generalize to arbitrary \(p\)-groups some results that were proved for groups in which all conjugacy classes have the same size, and investigate some extreme situations.
