Let M be a smooth strongly pseudo-convex compact real hypersurface of a complex manifold X with \(\dim_{{\mathbb{C}}}X\geq 4\). In this paper, a comparison between deformations of CR structures on M and deformations of tubler neighbourhoods of M is discussed. The main result (Theorem 2) is that the Kuranishi family of strongly pseudo-convex CR structures on M [\textit{T. Akahori}, Invent. Math. 63, 311-334 (1981; Zbl 0496.32015)] is realized as a family of real hypersurfaces of a formally versal convergent family of deformations of X near M. If M is a link of normal isolated singularity (V,0) with \(\dim_{{\mathbb{C}}}V\geq 4\) and codh(V,0)\(\geq 3\), a comparison between the versal family of deformations of (V,0) [\textit{H. Grauert}, Invent. Math. 15, 171-198 (1972; Zbl 0237.32011)] and the Kuranishi family of strongly pseudo-convex CR structures on M follows: The Kuranishi family of strongly pseudo-convex CR structures on M is realized as a family of real hypersurfaces of a versal family of deformations of (V,0). The existence of a formally versal convergent family of deformations of X near M (Theorem 1) is proved relying on T. Akahori's method of constructing a versal family of complex structures on a strongly pseudo-convex domain [\textit{T. Akahori}, Invent. Math. 68, 317-352 (1982; Zbl 0575.32021)].
