The monograph contains encyclopedic presentation of Lie algebras in the sense of their applications to the spectroscopy of molecules, atoms, nuclei and hadrons. However, mathematicians also can find many interesting from the front border of operator algebras theory. The presentation is beginning with five introductory chapters: Basic Concepts (change of basis, ideals, metric tensor, invariant Casimir operators, structure of Lie algebras), Semisimple Lie Algebras (Cartan-Weyl form and Dynkin diagrams; root vectors diagrams; Cartan matrices; enveloping algebra), Lie groups (groups of transformations; matrix groups; some important transformations); Lie algebras and Lie groups (exponential map; infinitesimal transformations); homogeneous and symmetric spaces (coset spaces); Cartan classifications, construction of coset spaces. Chapter 6, Irreducible Bases (Representations), contains the subjects of irreducible tensors, tensor representations of classical compact algebras, spinor representations, fundamental representations, realization of bases, chains of algebras and canonical chains, isomorphisms of spinor algebras and nomenclature for \(\mathrm{u}(n)\), dimensions of the representations of \(\mathrm{u}(n)\), \(\mathrm{su}(n)\), \(\mathrm{so}(n)\), tensor products, non-canonical chains. Chapter 7, Casimir operators and their Eigenvalues, consists of sections: independent Casimir operators (Casimir operators of \(\mathrm{u}(n)\), \(\mathrm{su}(n)\), \(\mathrm{so}(n)\) for odd and even \(n\) and Casimir operators of the exceptional algebras); Complete set of communiting operators for the unitary algebra \(\mathrm{u}(n)\) and the orthogonal algebra \(\mathrm{so}(n)\) at \(n\) even and odd; Eigenvalues of Casimir Operators for the algebras \(\mathrm{su}(n)\), the orthogonal algebras \(\mathrm{so}(2n+1)\), \(\mathrm{so}(2n)\) and the symplectic algebra \(\mathrm{Sp}(2n)\). Chapter 8 is devoted to tensor operators (coupling coefficients, Wigner-Eckart theorem, nested algebras: Racah's factorization lemma, adjoint operators, recoupling coefficients and coupled tensor operators). The subsequent chapters contain the detailed account of applied subjects: Chapter 9 and 10 are devoted the boson and fermion realizations, Chapter 11 and 12 to differential and matrix realizations (most interesting to mathematicians), Chapter 13, Coset spaces, contains coherent states for the groups \(\mathrm{U}(n)/\mathrm{U}(n-1) \otimes \mathrm{U}(1) \), \(\mathrm{u}(n)\) \(n\) at \(n\) even and odd, coset spaces \(\mathrm{SO}(n+m)/\mathrm{SO}(n)\otimes \mathrm{SO}(m)\) and \(\mathrm{SO}(n,m)/\mathrm{SO}(n)\otimes \mathrm{SO}(m)\), Chapter 14 and 15 are devoted to spectrum generating algebras, dynamic symmetries and degeneracy algebras and dynamical algebras.
