For an inner function \(u\) on the unit disk, the model space \(K^2_u\) is, by definition, \(H^2\ominus uH^2\), where \(H^2\) is the Hardy class. A truncated Toeplitz operator on \(K^2_u\) is the compression of a Toeplitz operator to \(K^2_u\). The author studies self-adjoint truncated Toeplitz operators on finite-dimensional model spaces. Among other results, it is shown that such operators have unique symbols of minimum \(L^\infty\) norm.
