Let L(x,D) be a second order elliptic operator in \(R^ n\), \[ L(x,D)=\sum_{| \alpha | \leq 2,\alpha \neq \alpha_ 0}a_{\alpha}(x)D_ x^{\alpha}+a_{\alpha_ o}(x)D_ x^{\alpha_ 0},\quad | \alpha_ 0| \leq 2 \] and \(u_ t=L(x,D)u\), \(u(x,0)=f(x)\), \(u(x,T)=F(x)\), \(T=const>0\). An inverse problem is posed: Find the vector-function \((u,a_{\alpha_ 0},f)\) from the given function F(x). The function \(a_{\alpha_ 0}(x)\) is considered. It is known in a certain band distance. A uniqueness theorem is deduced.
