This workbook was primary conceived to serve as accompanying text for lectures, exercises and tutorials based on the book ``Introduction to operations research'' by Wolfgang Domschke and Andreas Drexl. It can also serve as workbook even if another textbook is used. In addition to the exercises, there are case studies which are solved using standard software. They also help to improve modeling skills for optimization problems. The application of basic methods can be practiced by means of numerous exercises found in each chapter. Some exercises help extend and deepen one's knowledge beyond specific issues barely addressed in the textbook.
