Moments of a Lie group are the elements of the dual space to its Lie algebra. The paper is devoted to the so-called regular moments of the diffeomorphism group \(Diff(M^ 2)\) of a 2-dimensional compact orientable manifold \(M^ 2\). They can be identified with tensors of the form \(\alpha\) \(\otimes \omega\), where \(\alpha\) is a 1-form and \(\omega\) is a volume form. The group naturally acts on the space of all regular moments. The author proves that in many cases the set of orbits of this action has two functional moduli. As an application she proves that if \(M^ 2\) is the 2-sphere, then orbits of this action are of infinite codimension.
