Results are given, without proof, the thrust of which is to determine, in certain special cases, the homotopy type of the space \(G_ 0(X)\) of based self-homotopy equivalences in the case where X is the total space of a fibration. A number of ''function-space fibrations'' are noted including the weak fibration G(E mod F)\(\to G_ 0(E)\to^{\ell}T\), where \(T\subset G_ 0(B)\times G_ 0(F)\), valid under certain restrictions on homotopy groups for a fibration \(F\to E\to B\) and the fibration G(E)\(\to {\mathcal G}^*(E,E')\to map(B,B')\) where \({\mathcal G}^*(E,E')\), is the space of fibre maps between two fibrations which are homotopy equivalences on each fibre. Some of the results given are known. Applications noted include (all spaces are CW complexes/pairs etc.): Let \(F=K(\pi,n)\) \((n>1)\) and let B be simply connected then there is a weak homotopy equivalence \[ G(E mod F)\cong H^ n(B,\pi)\times \prod^{n- 1}_{i=1}K(H^{n-i}(B,\pi),i); \] and, if \(B=K(\pi ',m)\) \((1<m<n)\), \(G_ 0(E)\cong R\times G(E mod F)\) where R is a certain subgroup of aut \(\pi\) \(\times aut \pi '\).
