Let V be an n-dimensional inner product space, \(T_ i\), \(i=1,...,k\), k linear operators on V, H a subgroup of \(S_ m\) (the symmetric group of degree m), \(\chi\) a character of degree 1 and T a linear operator on V. Denote by K(T) the induced operator of T on \(V_{\chi}(H)\), the symmetry class of tensors associated with H and \(\chi\). This note is concerned with the structure of the set \({\mathcal K}^ H_{\chi,m}(T_ 1,...,T_ k)\) consisting of all numbers of the form trace K(T\({}_ 1U_ 1,...,T_ kU_ k)\) where \(U_ i\), \(i=1,...,k\), vary over the group of all unitary operators on V. For \(V={\mathbb{C}}^ n\) or \({\mathbb{R}}^ n\), it turns out that \({\mathcal K}^ H_{\chi,m}(T_ 1,...,T_ k)\) is convex when m is not a multiple of n. For \(m=n\), there are examples which show that the convexity of \({\mathcal K}^ H_{\chi,m}(T_ 1,...,T_ k)\) depends on H and \(\chi\).
