A partial ordered semigroup S is called a poe-semigroup if there exists in S a greatest element e. A poe-semigroup S is called weakly commutative if for every x,y\(\in S\) there exists a positive integer n such that \((xy)^ n\leq yex\). If S is a poe-semigroup, a filter of S is a subsemigroup F of S such that: i) a,b\(\in S\) and ab\(\in F\Rightarrow a\in F\) and \(b\in F\); ii) \(a\in F\) and \(c\in S\) with \(c\geq a\Rightarrow c\in F\). Let N(x) be the filter of S generated by \(x\in S\). The author obtains two characterizations of the weakly commutative poe-semigroups: I) Let S be a poe-semigroup. Then S is weakly commutative iff \(N(x)=\{y\in S|\) \(x^ n\leq yey\) for some positive integer \(n\}\) for every \(x\in S\). II) Let S be a poe-semigroup. S is weakly commutative iff \(N(x)=\{y\in S|\) \(x^ n\leq ye\) for some positive integer \(n\}=\{y\in S|\) \(x^ m\leq ey\) for some positive integer \(m\}\) for every \(x\in S\).
