In this note the author defines the categories MHM(X,k) of mixed Hodge modules, where X is a smooth algebraic variety over \({\mathbb{C}}\) and k a subfield of \({\mathbb{R}}\). He outlines the proofs of several theorems on the stability by subquotients, by pull-backs and direct images. [See also the following review.]
