Let E be a Banach lattice, the symbol \(\gamma\) (T) denotes the Riesz point of the spectrum of \(T\in {\mathcal L}(E)\); i.e. \(\gamma\) (T) is a pole of the resolvent operator \((Z-T)^{-1}\) whose residuum is a projection of finite rank. The symbol \(\pi\sigma\) (T) denotes the peripheral spectrum of \(T\in {\mathcal L}(E)\) defined by \(\pi \sigma (T)=\{z\in \sigma (T):| z| =\gamma (T)\}.\) The main result of this paper is the following: Let S, \(T\in {\mathcal L}(E)\) such that \(0\leq S\leq T\) and \(r(T)=r(S)\). If r(T) is a Riesz point of \(\sigma\) (T), then r(S) is a Riesz point of \(\sigma\) (S). The author proved this result by a series of propositions which are also interesting by themselves. The author also obtained, under some conditions, that either \(r(T)<r(T+K)\) or \(\pi \sigma (T)=\pi \sigma (T+K)\); where \(T+K\) is the compact perturbation of \(T\in {\mathcal L}(E)\), \(0\leq K\in {\mathcal L}(E)\) and T is a positive irreducible operator.
