An immediate consequence of S. Bernstein's theorem on the derivative of a trigonometric polynomial is the inequality (1) \(\max_{| z| =1}| P'(z)| \leq n\, \max| P(z)|,\) where \(P(z)\) is a polynomial of degree \(n\). From the maximum modulus principle it follows that (2) \(\max_{| z| =R>1}| P(z)| \leq R^ n\max_{| z| =1}| P(z)|.\) For the cases when a polynomial \(P(z)\) has all its zeros in the unit disk or in its exterior, the estimates of types (1) and (2) are given. These estimates contain also the minimum modulus of a polynomial \(P(z)\) and its derivative \(P'(z)\) on the \(| z| =1\). Examples of polynomials under which the obtained estimates are converted into equality are given.
