Degree reduction of Bézier curves (Q5905455)

This is a letter to the editor concerning the paper of \textit{M. A. Watkins} and \textit{A. J. Worsey} [ibid. 20, No. 7, 398-405 (1988; Zbl 0658.65014)]. The autor has found some technical errors in the equations defining the entries of a matrix and its inverse arising from degree reduction of Bézier curves, and proposes a corrected set of equations. There is also a note of Watkins in which he agrees with the changes, and observes that there is a more compact formula for the inverse in the book of \textit{A. Ralston} and \textit{P. Rabinowitz} [A first course in numerical analysis. 2nd ed. (1978; Zbl 0408.65001)].
