On deficiencies of differential polynomials (Q5905585)

This article contains a number of bounds for deficiencies of differential polynomials as well as some inequalities between the Nevanlinna characteristic function of certain differential polynomials in \(f\) and the Nevanlinna characteristic of \(f\) itself. A typical example is as follows: Let \(f\) be a meromorphic function with \(N(r,f)=S(r,f)\) and let \(Q[f]\) be a differential polynomial in \(f\) and its derivatives of degree \(d_ Q\) which does not contain the factor \(f\), with coefficients \(\beta(z)\) such that \(T(r,\beta)=S(r,f)\). Then \(\delta(0,Q)\geq(A/d_ Q)\sum_{\alpha\neq\infty} \delta(\alpha,f)\).
