The paper exhibits two non-isogenous elliptic curves \(E\), \(E'\) over \(\mathbb Q\) whose groups of 7-division points are symplectically isomorphic (as representations of \(\text{Gal}(\overline{\mathbb Q}/\mathbb Q))\). To check that they are isomorphic one compares sufficiently many traces of Frobenius. To see that the isomorphism can be chosen to be symplectic (which means that its determinant is a square) one checks at one place of semistable bad reduction. The authors also explain how they found this example.
