The author generalizes results of \textit{E. A. Mares} [Math. Z. 82, 347-360 (1963; Zbl 0131.27401)] and \textit{R. Ware} [Trans. Am. Math. Soc. 155, 233-256 (1971; Zbl 0215.09101)], namely he extends the concept of perfectness to modules which are not necessarily projective. Let \(M\in\text{mod-}R\), where \(R\) is an associative ring with \(1\neq 0\) and let us denote by \(J(M)\) the Jacobson radical of \(R\). The main results of this paper are the following theorems: Theorem 1. Let \(M_R\neq 0\) be quasi-projective with \(J(M)\neq M\). Then \(\text{End}_R(M)\) is local iff \(M\) is local. Theorem 2. Let \(M_R\neq 0\) be a quasi-projective module with \(J(M)\ll M\). Then \(\text{End}_R(M)\) is semi-perfect iff \(M\) is finitely generated and semi-perfect. Theorem 3. Let \(M_R\neq 0\) be a quasi-projective module with \(J(M)\ll M\). Then \(\text{End}_R(M)\) is a right-perfect ring iff \(M\) is a finitely generated perfect module.
