Let \(E\) be a real Banach space equipped with a partial ordering. Set \(J=[t_0,T]\), \(t_0<t_1<\dots<t_m<T, J_k=[t_k,T]\), and \(F=\{(t,s):t_0\leq s\leq t\leq T\}\). Let \(PC(J,E)\) stand for the set of piecewise continuous functions \(x:J\to E\), continuous at \(t\neq t_k\) and continuous from the left at the points \(t_k\) \((k=1,2,\dots,m)\). Consider the nonlinear impulsive Volterra integral equation in \(E\): \[ x(t)=x_0(t)+\int_{t_0}^t H(t,s,x(s))ds+\sum_{t_0<t_k<t}a_k(t)I_k(x(t_k)), \quad t\in J,\tag{1} \] where \(x,x_0\in PC(J,E)\), \(H:F\times E\to E\), \(I_k\in C(E,E)\) and \(a_k\in C(J_k,{\mathbb R}), k=1,2,\dots,m\). Using the Mönch fixed point theorem [see \textit{H. Mönch}, Nonlinear Anal., Theory Methods Appl. 4, 985-999 (1980; Zbl 0462.34041)] the author establishes sufficient conditions guaranteeing the existence of solutions as well as maximal and minimal solutions of (1) in \(PC(J,E)\). The obtained theorems improve and generalize results of \textit{D. Guo} [J. Appl. Math. Stochastic Anal. 6, No. 1, 35-48 (1993; Zbl 0770.45012)].
