Cauchy problem for quasilinear hyperbolic systems with higher order dissipative terms (Q5906851)

Based on previous results of the author, the Cauchy problem for quasilinear systems with higher order dissipative terms is investigated. The problems treated are in fact second order strictly hyperbolic problems, which are either linearly degenerate (in which case there exits global classical solutions) or genuinely nonlinear (in which case there is blow up after a finite time, and the life span of these solutions are estimated in a precise way). The main results depend heavily on the basic references, which makes the paper short but also a little difficult to read, due to the technical nature of the subject.
