Let \(X\) be a compact Hausdorff space, \(Y\) be a normed linear space, \(C(X, Y)\) be the vector space of continuous functions from \(X\) to \(Y\) and \(S\) be a subspace of \(C(X, Y).\) Suppose that \(C(X, Y)\) is normed with a given norm \(\| \cdot\| _A\) and that \(U\) is the unit ball of \((\mathbb R^n, \| \cdot\| _B). \) The authors consider the following problem of best simultaneous approximation: for a fixed \(F = (\phi_1,\dots,\phi_n) \in C(X,Y)^n,\) find all \(f = (\phi,\dots,\phi)\), \(\phi \in S\) which minimize the functional \[ \| F - f\| = \max_{(a_1,\dots,a_n)\in U} \left\| \sum_{i=1}^n a_i(\phi_i - \phi)\right\| _A. \] After some characterizations of element \(f\) of best simultaneous approximation the authors study the problem of uniqueness respectively strong, or \(p\)-strong uniqueness of this element. Geometric properties of \(Y,C(X, Y)\) and \(S\) implies the uniqueness and strong uniqueness of \(f\).
