This is a clear, well-organized and concise presentation of all the standard topics in the elementary theory of games. After the introduction there are eight chapters on noncooperative game theory (strategic form, two-person zero-sum games, mixed extensions, relation to linear programming and linear complementarity, potential games and other topics), followed by ten chapters on cooperative game theory (coalitional form, imputation set, core, linear production games, dominance, D-core and stable sets, Shapley value, \(\tau\)-value, nucleolus, bargaining, NTU games and NTU-value). Nearly every chapter comes with exercises, solutions to which are provided at the back of the book. There are also some more general extra exercises, with no solutions given. The book should be an excellent text for a beginning course in the theory of games, or for self-study. There is a bibliography of 76 references, and a good index.
