    The authors consider a family \({\mathcal F}\) of meromorphic functions in a plane domain \(D\) and a complex-valued continuous function \(h\) on \(D\). By using techniques involving the degree theory and spherical derivative, they prove that \({\mathcal F}\) is a normal family on \(D\) provided that at least one of the following conditions holds: (a) All zeros and poles of all \(f \in {\mathcal F}\) are multiple, \(h(z) \neq 0\) for all \(z \in D\) and, for each \(f \in {\mathcal F}\), \(f'(z) \neq h(z)\) for \(z \in D\). (b) For every \(f \in {\mathcal F}\), all poles are multiple and all zeros have multiplicity at least \(3\), \(h\) is holomorphic, \(f'(z) \neq h(z)\) for \(z \in D\) and \(h \not\equiv 0\). (c) All zeros of all \(f \in {\mathcal F}\) have multiplicity at least \(4\), \(h\) is holomorphic, \(f'(z) \neq h(z)\) for \(z \in D\) and \(h \not\equiv 0\).
