Discrete maximum principle (Q5915460)

For problems of optimal control of discrete systems the necessary conditions for optimality in the form of an analogy of Pontryagin's maximum principle for continuous systems was developed by many authors. However, the methods of the theory of control of distributions (bundles of trajectories) is in this time in the focus of interest. This new control theory makes possible to state the problems of discrete control differently. In the new formulation, the maximum principle is transferred from the class of discrete ones directly, without any changes, and thus becomes a general-system statement. This paper is concerned with formulating and proving two general problems and two related theorems, representing the form of the maximum principle for these problems, respectively.
