In 1988, \textit{G. Kalai} [Discrete Comput. Geom. 3, 1-14 (1988; Zbl 0631.52009)] gave a construction for a large class of simplicial spheres (called squeezed spheres). For \(d\geq 5\), the number of distinct simplicial \(d\)-spheres arising from Kalai's construction vastly exceeds the known upper bounds on the number of simplicial spherical polytopes. The construction is important in that it may be used to show that ``most'' simplicial spheres (even shellable ones) are not polytopal. In the article under review, Pfeifle shows that for \(d=4\), all of Kalai's simplicial spheres in fact are polytopal. This is in sharp contrast with the higher dimensional cases. The proof uses results about cyclic polytopes, that is, polytopes whose vertices lie on the curve \(t\mapsto (t,t^2,t^3,\dots,t^d)\). The article closes with a simplified proof of the previously known result that the graphs of duals of squeezed \(3\)-spheres are Hamiltonian.
