Let \(f_{\lambda}:I\to I\) (\(I=[-1,1]\), \(\lambda\in\Lambda\) a parameter) be a family of unimodal maps with a critical point \(c_{\lambda}\in\text{int}I\). Maps from \(f_{\lambda}\) have very simple dynamics when they are regular. The family \(\{f_{\lambda}\}_{\lambda\in\Lambda}\) is said to be nontrivial if the set of regular parameters is dense. The aim of the work is to describe the structure of the set of nonregular parameters in the family \(f_{\lambda}\) and analyze the dynamics for almost every parameter from the statistical point of view. The main results are as follows. Theorem 1. Let \(\{f_{\lambda}\}_{\lambda\in\Lambda}\) be a nontrivial analytic family of unimodal maps. Then for almost every nonregular parameter \(\lambda\), \(f_{\lambda}\) admits a restrictive interval \(J\) of period \(n\) such that \(f_{\lambda}^n:J\to J\) is topologically conjugate to a quadratic map. Theorem 2. Let \(\{f_{\lambda}\}_{\lambda\in\Lambda}\) be a nontrivial analytic family of unimodal maps. Then for almost every nonregular parameter \(\lambda\), \(f_{\lambda}\) satisfies the Collet-Eckman condition and the recurrence of \(c_{\lambda}\) is polynomial with exponent 1: the set of values of \(n\) satisfying \(|f_{\lambda}^n(c_{\lambda})-c_{\lambda}|<n^{-\gamma}\) is finite if \(\gamma >1\) and infinite if \(\gamma <1\). Some interesting applications of the above results are given. The note contains statements and discussions of results. Full proofs are available in [\textit{A.~Avila}, Bifurcations of unimodal maps: the topologic and metric picture, Thése, IMPA, 2001].
