Let \(n\in \mathbb{N}\) and \(\mathcal{E}\) be an \(n+1\) dimensional space of \(C^{n}\) functions defined on a real interval \(I\) with a nonempty interior. For \(r\in \{1,2,\dots,n+1\}\), a Hermite interpolation problem in \(\mathcal{E}\) (based on \(r\) distinct points) is a problem of the following form: find \(U\in \mathcal{ E}\) such that \(U^{(j)}(\tau _{i})=\alpha _{i,j}\), \(i\in \{1,2,\dots,r\}\), \( j\in \{0,1,\dots,\mu _{i}-1\}\), where \(\tau _{1}, \dots, \tau _{r}\) are pairwise distinct points in \(I\), \(\mu _{1}, \dots, \mu _{r}\) are positive numbers such that \({\sum }_{i=1}^{r}\mu _{i}=n+1\), and \( \alpha _{i,j}\) are real numbers. The main result of this note states that if any Hermite interpolation problem based on at most two distinct points has a unique solution in \(\mathcal{E}\), then any Hermite interpolation problem has a unique solution problem in \(\mathcal{E}\).
