Schrödinger operators associated with Delone sets in \(\mathbb R^d\) are investigated w.r.t. spectral properties, using ergodic theory and operator algebraic methods. For certain discrete models, existence and possible discontinuities of the integrated density of states are discussed, the latter emerging from the possibility of compactly supported eigenfunctions. For continuum models, an abstractly defined subclass is identified that generically shows purely singular continuous spectra [compare \textit{D. Lenz} and \textit{P. Stollman}, Generic sets in spaces of measures and generic singular continuous spectrum for Delone Hamiltonians, Duke Math. J. 131, No. 2, 203--217 (2006; Zbl 1103.81017)]. This phenomenon is well known for \(d=1\), also in explicit examples. (Compare the cited review by \textit{D. Damanik} [CRM Monogr. Ser. 13, 277--305 (2000; Zbl 0989.81025)], or \textit{M. Baake} [Lett. Math. Phys. 49, No.~3, 217--227 (1999; Zbl 0999.81019), and references given there], though these examples are all discrete again.
