Hofer introduced his topologies on the group of Hamiltonian diffeomorphisms of a symplectic manifold [\textit{H. Hofer} and \textit{E. Zehnder}, Symplectic invariants and Hamiltonian dynamics. Basel: Birkhäuser (1994; Zbl 0805.58003)]. Recently, Banyaga and independently Bus-Leclercq showed that on a closed symplectic manifold each Hofer metric generalizes over the whole group of time-one maps of symplectic isotopies [\textit{A. Banyaga}, Contemp. Math. 512, 1--23 (2010; Zbl 1198.53089); \textit{G. Buss} and \textit{R. Leclercq}, Math. Z. 272, No. 3--4, 1001--1022 (2012; Zbl 1254.53106)]). The paper under review aims to give some further generalizations of Hofer's results regarding the group of Hamiltonian diffeomorphisms of a symplectic manifold. To be more precise, the paper under review consists of two main results. First, by using the \(L^\infty\)-Hofer-like lengths the author investigates the \(C^0\)-limit of sequences of symplectic diffeomorphisms isotopic to the identity. Secondly, it has been shown that the Hofer-like geometry is independent of the choice of two versions (\(L^\infty\)-version or \(L^{(1, \infty)}\)-version) of the Hofer-like metrics
