Duality for crossed products of von Neumann algebras (Q5916433)

The author gives an exposition of the duality theory for Kac algebras i.e. pairs (Hopf-von Neumann algebra, invariant weight) (this duality encompasses the Pontrjagin and Tatsuuma duality theories) and the duality theory for crossed products of von Neumann algebras by Kac algebras. Applications to the structure theory of type III factors, \(L_ p\) spaces with respect to weights (after U. Haagerup), Galois correspondence for subalgebras of a von Neumann algebra and subgroups of its automorphism group, and some others are mentioned.
