This is the second volume of a proposed three volume series covering the analysis needs of students in mathematics, physics and computer science. The first volume was given high praise in its reviews, see for instance [``Analysis 1'' (2002; Zbl 1057.26001)]. In that review the intentions of the author and the excellent way they were carried out were highlighted and the same remarks apply here. The present volume is aimed at second semester students at German universities and its contents are: 1. Differential calculus of functions of several variables; 2. Curves and line integrals; 3. Holomorphic functions, residues and Fourier transforms; 4. Varieties defined by equations; 5. Integration in \(\mathbb R^n\); 6. Surface integrals and integral theorems. As in the first volume the intention is to put powerful mathematical tools in the hands of interested students and to do this in a way that does not necessarily use the strongest forms of these theorems. Thus the theory of complex functions in Chapter 3 is based on functions defined on an open set with continuous derivatives; Goursat's lemma that shows the assumption of continuity is unnecessary is proved but rather as a footnote than as a main result. The many applications are all of interest and all given a very thorough treatment, each chapter contains several sets of exercises and historical notes abound. Outside Germany this book should be on library shelves and would be of interest to all involved in the teaching of analysis
