Lectures on operator theory (Q5917991)

This book is a compilation of lectures given in the Field Institute during the years 1994-1995 in Waterloo-Ontario. An up to date vision of \(C^*\)-algebras and von Neumann algebras is obtained. Beginning with basic and classical definitions it reaches actual problems as the classification of \(C^*\)-algebras or subfactors. Of course, not all demonstrations are done, but one has references at the end of each chapter.
