The authors consider differential equations of the form \( f^{n}(z)+R_{d}(z,f)=p_{1}e^{\alpha _{1z}}+p_{2}e^{\alpha _{2}z},\) where \( R_{d}(z,f)\) is a differential polynomial in \(f\) of degree \(d\), and difference equations of the form \(f^{n}(z)+P_{d}(z,f)=p_{1}e^{\alpha _{1z}}+p_{2}e^{\alpha _{2}z},\) where \(P_{d}(z,f)\) is a difference polynomial in \(f\) of degree \(d\). After citing a theorem by \textit{P. Li} [J. Math. Anal. Appl. 375, No. 1, 310--319 (2011; Zbl 1206.30046)] and one by the authors [Comput. Methods Funct. Theory 20, No. 2, 319--332 (2020; Zbl 1472.34153)] they raise the question whether or not finite order meromorphic solutions of the above difference equations share properties with those of the corresponding differential equations. They use Nevanlinna theory of meromorphic functions to prove their results and they show that there exist some differences between the discrete and the continuous case.
