The book is a clear and rigorous presentation of advanced topics of complex analysis which are not usually considered in elementary texts. The topics covered in its ten chapters are as follows. Chapter 1 contains some fundamental results regarding analytic functions. An extended maximum principle, the Phragmén-Lindelöf theorem, the Schwarz lemma and the Hadamard three-circles theorem are discussed. This chapter also includes basic facts about infinite products with special attention given to Blaschke products. An overview of properties of entire functions, including the Weierstrass and Hadamard factorization theorems, is provided in the second chapter. Chapter 3 is devoted to meromorphic functions. It starts with the classical theory including the Mittag-Leffler expansion theorem and some basic highlights regarding elliptic functions. The second part deals with Nevanlinna theory. A study of normal families of analytic functions as well as of meromorphic functions is given in the fourth chapter. The first part of Chapter 5 is dedicated to the Poincaré disk model. The connection with a hyperboloid in 3-dimensional space is discussed at the end of this chapter. Chapter 6 contains a collection of classical results about univalent functions including the Grönwall area theorem, the Bieberbach, Robertson and Millin conjectures. A complex exposition of the theory of harmonic functions is given in Chapter 7. The mean value property, the Poisson formula, the Dirichlet principle, the Green's function, the harmonic measure and the Harnack principle are some of the topics discussed in this chapter. Chapter 8 is devoted to subharmonic and superharmonic functions and their properties. A concise discussion on iterations of rational mappings is contained in Chapter 9. Special emphasis is given to iterations of Möbius transformations, Julia and Fatou sets and the Mandelbrot set. The first part of the last chapter contains a collection of basic properties of the gamma, beta and Riemann zeta functions. The second part is devoted to Möbius functions, arithmetic and discrete Fourier transforms, the Laplace and the inverse Laplace transforms. Each section of the book contains a great number of examples, exercises and historical remarks.
