The author studies the asymptotic behavior of solutions of a second order integrodifferential equation of the form \[ (a(t)x')'+b(t)x'+c(t)x=f[t,x,x',\int^{t}_{0}g(t,s,x(s),x'(s))ds],\quad t\in R_+ \] as \(t\to \infty\) assuming that the general solution of the second order differential equation \((a(t)x')'+b(t)x'+c(t)x=0\) is known, where \(a(t)>0\) is a continuously differentiable function defined on \(R_+\), b(t) and c(t) are continuous functions defined on \(R_+\), and f and g are continuous functions defined on \(R_+\times R^ 3\) and \(R^ 2_+\times R^ 2\) respectively. A variant of an integral inequality established by the reviewer [ibid. 49, 794-802 (1975; Zbl 0305.26009)] is used to establish the main result. A simple example is given to illustrate the result.
