The authors deal with the uniqueness of radially symmetric ground state solutions of the equation \[ -\Delta u= K(|x|) f(u),\quad x\in\mathbb{R}^N,\quad N> 2, \] where \(K: \mathbb{R}^+\to \mathbb{R}^+\) is a positive \(C^1\) function and \(f\in C([0,\infty))\) satisfying suitable (natural) assumptions. They define an energy-like functional and establish a monotone separation type of result, which is the key to prove uniqueness theorem.
