    Let \(f\) be a non-constant analytic function on the unit disk \({\mathcal D}=\{\,z\in{\mathbb C}:| z| <1\,\}\), where \(f({\mathcal D})\) is regarded as a covering surface. For \(z_0\in{\mathcal D}\), a disk \(\Delta_r(f(r_0))=\{\,w\in{\mathbb C}:| w-f(z_0)| <r\,\}\) is called a univalent disk contained in \(f({\mathcal D})\), with center \(f(z_0)\) and radius~\(r\), if there is a subdomain~\(G\) of~\(D\) such that \(f\) is univalent on~\(G\), \(z_0\in G\) and \(f(G)=\Delta_r(f(z_0))\). The radius of the largest univalent disk of center \(f(z_0)\) is denoted by \(r(z_0,f)\). Let \(B_f=\sup\{\,r(z,f):z\in{\mathcal D}\,\}\). The locally univalent Bloch constant is \[ {\mathbf B}_\infty=\inf\{\,B_f:\text{\(f'(0)=1\), \(f'(z)\neq0\) for \(z\in{\mathcal D}\)}\,\}. \] In the paper under review the authors improve \textit{H. Yanagihara}'s result, \({\mathbf B}_\infty>\frac12+10^{-417}\) [J. Anal. Math. 65, 1--17 (1995; Zbl 0834.30026)] by proving \({\mathbf B}_\infty>\frac12+2\times10^{-8}\).
