A generalization of an algebra of Chevalley (Q5925805)

The author defines over a field \(F\) of characteristic \(\not= 2,3\) an algebra of type \(C\) whose elements are all triples of elements of a quadratic algebra \(\mathfrak Q\) with 1 over \(F\) having \(x \rightarrow \bar x = t(x)1-x\) as an involution. The multiplication is based on that of a special case due to Chevalley in which the algebra \(\mathfrak Q\) is the algebra of octonions. In this paper algebras of type \(C\) are characterized by their internal properties.
