Given the crossed product \(B=G\times_\alpha A\) of an algebra \(A\) by a group of automorphisms \(G\), and a \(B\)-bimodule \(X\), the author constructs a filtration of the standard complex \(\Hom(\otimes^* B,X)\) which computes the Hochschild cohomology \(H^*(B,X)\) of \(B\) with coefficients in \(X\). Generalising the ``direct method'' of \textit{G. Hochschild} and \textit{J.-P. Serre} [``Cohomology of group extensions'', Trans. Am. Math. Soc. 74, 110-134 (1953; Zbl 0050.02104)], it is shown that the associated spectral sequence satisfies \(E_2^{p,q}= H^p(G,H^q(A,X))\). This result is applied to certain automorphisms of the tori \(\mathbb{T}^d\) where \(G\) is the group \(\mathbb{Z}\) and \(A\) is the algebra of trigonometric polynomials on \(\mathbb{T}^d\). In particular, bases of the space \(H^n (B,B)\) inside the standard complex \(\Hom(\otimes^* B,B)\) are constructed.
