The authors discuss the solvability conditions of the two-degree-of-freedom stabilizing controller parametrization for the servomechanism problem in the general case. The paper extends the results of \textit{G.~O.~CorrĂȘa} and \textit{M.~A.~da Silveira} [Int. J. Control 61, 475-491 (1995; Zbl 0817.93024); Int. J. Control 55, 1115-1139 (1992; Zbl 0766.49003)]. The disturbance rejection problem for some cases which were not considered by CorrĂȘa and Da Silveira is studied. The solutions are parametrized by free, stable, rational and proper matrices. For deterministic components in the control signal, the transient performance of the associated control signal is considered. To obtain the stable part of the deterministic control signal, the authors adopt the weighted Frobenius norm of the transfer function from the deterministic input signal to the control signal as a measure of the control signal transient performance. This simplifies the problem above. For the stochastic signal, the Wiener-Hopf cost functions are used. Based on the parametrization of two-degree-of-freedom stabilizing controllers with asymptotic tracking and disturbance rejection constraints described here, an optimal control problem is formulated and the design of the two-degree-of-freedom optimal Wiener-Hopf controller is derived. Two illustrative examples are presented. In addition, some solvability conditions of the bilateral Diophantine equation over the stable rational fractional ring are given.
