The aim of the present paper is to give a method for the construction of elliptic curves of the form \(y^2 = x^3 + Bx\), such that the infinite part of the Mordell-Weil group has large rank. The search is based on the double descent method of Tate, which means that the authors are working simultaneously on the original curve and on its twist. It is found three values of \(B\) for which the corresponding curve have rank at least \(8\). For \(B=-14752493461692\) it is proved that the rank is exactly eight. Reviewer's remarks: \textit{T. J. Kretschmer} [Math. Comput. 46, 627-635 (1986; Zbl 0593.14022)] applying essentially the same method found a curve of the same type and of rank 10. There are two examples of rank 11 in \textit{U. Schneiders} and \textit{H. G. Zimmer} [Computational number theory, Proc. Colloq., Debrecen/Hung. 1989, 239-260 (1991; Zbl 0743.14023)]. Unfortunately neither of these results are cited in the present paper.
