A stationary space time \((M,g)\) is a Lorentz manifold with a 1-parameter group \(G\approx R\) of isometries whose orbits are timelike curves in \(M\). It is a stationary vacuum space-time if it is a time-independent state of evolution of a physical system. The main result here states that a geodesically complete chronological stationary vacuum space-time has to be a Minkowski space or a quotient of a Minkowski space by a discrete group of isometries of \(R^3\), commuting with \(G\).
