The paper is the third one in the authors' series [J. Stat. Phys. 89, 215-232 (1997; Zbl 0945.82533); and 94, 805-836 (1999; Zbl 0963.82025)] dedicated to the application of a version of the Ornstein-Zernike approximation to classical spin systems with random components. In the present paper, a system of spins \(\sigma_i = \pm 1\), \(i\in {\mathbb Z}^d\), \(d \in {\mathbb N}\) is considered, described by the Hamiltonian \[ {\mathcal H} = - \sum_{\langle i,j \rangle}J_{ij} \sigma_i \sigma_j - H \sum_{i}\sigma_i, \] where the first sum runs over all nearest neighbor pairs and the couplings \(J_{ij}\) are independent Gaussian random variables with mean \(J_0\) and variance \(J^2\). The authors apply the replica trick, typical for the theory of models with quenched disorder, and pass to an effective Hamiltonian containing replica dependent external fields \(H_i^a\), \(a=1, \dots , n\) (\(n\) stands for the number of replicas) and inter-replica couplings \({ \Delta}_i^{a,b}\), \(a, b = 1, \dots , n\). The averaged magnetization \(m_i^a\) and overlap parameter \(q_i^{a,b}\) are obtained as derivatives of the free energy with respect to \(H_i^a\) and \({\Delta}_i^{a,b}\) respectively. The second order derivatives give connected correlation functions \(G_{i,j}^{a,b}\). Then a double Legendre transformation is employed to introduce the Gibbs free energy as a function of \(m_i^a\) and \(q_i^{a,b}\). Its second order derivatives give direct correlation functions \(C_{i,j}^{a,b}\). These two sets of correlation functions are coupled by Ornstein-Zernike equations. The authors find their approximate solutions by means of a version of the Ornstein-Zernike approximation (OZA), called in the article self-consistent OZA, which becomes exact in the limit \(d \rightarrow \infty\). These results are then used to calculate the freezing temperature and internal energy per spin, which are compared with the ones obtained by series and simulation methods [\textit{R. R. P. Singh} and \textit{M. E. Fisher}, J. Appl. Phys. 63, No. 5-6, 3994 ff. (1988); \textit{G. Parisi, F. Ricci-Terenghi} and \textit{J. Ruiz-Lorenzo}, J. Phys. A, Math. Gen. 29, 7943-7957 (1996; Zbl 0900.82050); and \textit{E. Marinari, G. Parisi, F. Ricci-Terenghi, J. Ruiz-Lorenzo} and \textit{F. Zuliani}, J. Stat. Phys. 98, 973-1074 (2000; Zbl 1015.82037)]. The temperature dependence of the specific heat and correlation length in the paramagnetic phase are also calculated.
