Representation and approximation for the Drazin inverse of matrices are developed. First, a unified representation theorem for the Drazin inverse is proven. From this theorem specific representations and computational procedures (based on the use of the Newton-Raphson iterative formula or of the Euler-Knopp transform or of Newton-Gregory and an Hermitian interpolation) for the Drazin inverse and corresponding error bounds are derived. Numerical examples of computing an approximate Drazin inverse for singular matrices and a generalized solution for singular equations are given.
