The paper analyzes the second part of the \textit{Compendy de la praticque des nombres} one of the four treatises contained in the manuscript S-XXVI-6 of the Malatestian Library in Cesena, Italy. This \textit{Compendy}, dated 1471, was written by Mathieu Préhoude who completed and annotated the work of Barthélémy de Romans. The treatise is one of the few commercial arithmetics produced in the southern France during the Medieval period. Its peculiarity consists in the long second part where the author of the texts limits its treatment to an in-depth analysis of only a few types of linear problems, not treating particular cases but rather emphasizing general methods. The author of the paper under review recognizes the sources for these problems being very close to \textit{Liber abaci} (1202) of Leonardo of Pisa and claims many of them were new to the southern French arithmetic tradition. Thus the \textit{Compendy} sheds new light on the transmission of arithmetic thought into Europe.
