    The Navier-Stokes initial-boundary value problem for a viscous incompressible fluid \[ {\partial v\over\partial t}+ (v\cdot\nabla) v= -\nabla p+ \nu\Delta v,\quad \text{div }v= 0\quad\text{in }Q_T, \] \[ v= 0\quad\text{on }\partial\Omega\times ]0, T[,\quad v|_{t= 0}= v_0, \] is considered, where \(Q_T= \Omega\times ]0, T[\) and \(\Omega\) is either \(\mathbb{R}^3\) or an axially symmetric (about the \(z\) axis) bounded domain in \(\mathbb{R}^3\) with boundary \(\partial\Omega\) of the class \(C^{2+\mu}\) for some \(\mu> 0\). The Navier-Stokes equations are written in cylindrical coordinates \(\varrho\), \(\theta\), \(z\). It is shown that a higher regularity of one of the components \(v_\varrho\), \(v_\theta\) of a suitable weak solution \(v\) to the problem implies the regularity of all components.
