It is shown that when \(q\) is a primitive root of unity of order not equal to \(2\bmod 4\), \(A(\text{SL}_q(2))\) is a free module of finite rank over its Hopf subalgebra isomorphic to \(A(\text{SL}(2))\). An explicit set of generators is provided. A more general freeness result is obtained by \textit{K. A. Brown, R. Gordon} and \textit{J. T. Stafford} [in their works ``The ramifications of the centres: quantised function algebras at roots of unity'', math.RT/9912042, and ``\(O_e[G]\) is a free module over \(O[G]\)'', math.QA/0007179 (2000)], where they prove the analogous result for a simply connected semisimple algebraic group \(G\) over the field of complex numbers; here \(e\) is a primitive \(l\)-th root of unity for some integer \(l>1\) such that \(l\) is prime to \(3\) if \(G\) has a component isomorphic to \(G_2\).
