\textit{T. Shintani} [J. Fac. Sci., Univ. Tokyo, Sect. I A 22, 25-65 (1975; Zbl 0313.10041)] constructed two variable zeta functions \(\xi_i(s_1,s_2)\) \((i=1,2)\) attached to the space of binary quadratic forms \((B,\rho,\text{Sym}(2))\), where \(B\) is the group of \(2 \times 2\) nonsingular lower triangular matrices. The Mellin inverse transforms of these zeta functions specialized to \(s_1=r\in \mathbb Z\) coincide with the Cohen Eisenstein series introduced by \textit{H. Cohen} [Math. Ann. 217, 271-285 (1975; Zbl 0311.10030)]. In this paper, the author gives two variable zeta functions attached to the space of binary Hermitian forms which is the prehomogeneous vector space \((B \times B, \rho, M_2(\mathbb C))\), and proves their functional equations from the theory of zeta functions in several variables associated with prehomogeneous vector spaces introduced by \textit{F. Sato} [Tohoku Math. J. (2) 34, 437-483 (1982; Zbl 0497.14007)]. From the converse of Weil's theorem, the Mellin inverse transforms of these zeta functions give some elliptic modular forms, if they are specialized to one-variable zeta functions.
