Lagrangian subvarieties of abelian fourfolds (Q5929533)

In this note the authors construct examples of non-fibered Lagrangian surfaces in abelian varieties. Their work is motivated in finding examples where the fundamental group of a projective surface has a non-trivial nilpotent tower. From the authors' summary: ``We produce an infinite series of surfaces \(X\) of different topological types which are contained in abelian varieties and are Lagrangian (weakly Lagrangian) with respect to a non-degenerate (2,0) form''.
