About half a century ago Kunihiko Kodaira proved that a compact complex manifold \(X\) is projective if and only if \(X\) admits a Kähler metric whose fundamental class is in the image of the natural homomorphism \(H^{2}(X,\mathbb Z)\rightarrow H^{2}(X,\mathbb R)\), i.e. if the Kähler cone in \(H^{1,1}(X)\) contains an integral point. Moreover he showed that a compact Kähler surface \(X\) is projective if and only if the positive cone in \(H^{1,1}(X)\) (with respect to the symmetric bilinear form induced by the cup product on \(H^{2}(X,\mathbb Z)\)) contains an integral point. Recently \textit{D. Huybrechts} [Invent. Math. 135, 63-113 (1999; Zbl 0953.53031)] stated that a compact Kähler surface \(X\) is already projective if the dual Kähler cone of \(X\) contains an inner integral point. This would be a generalization of the old criterion if there is any \(X\) whose dual Kähler cone contains an inner integral point which is not contained in the positive cone. The authors show that this is in fact the case for every \(K 3\) surface with maximal Picard number. Moreover they prove the criterion of Huybrechts, claiming that their methods are elementary compared to the original ones.
